Prayers Recorded in the Gospel of Matthew

Jesus' model prayer for His disciples (Matt. 6:9-13).

A leper's respectful request of Jesus for healing (Matt. 8:2).

The faith-filled, respectful plea of a centurion for Jesus to heal his ailing servant (Matt. 8:5-9).

Jesus' disciples ask Him to save them from drowning (Matt. 8:25).

Demons' request of Jesus to send them into a herd of swine (Matt. 8:29-31).

A synagogue official requested Jesus to restore his dead daughter back to life (Matt. 9:18).

A Canaanite woman's dogged request to Jesus to save her daughter from demons, by whom she was cruelly possessed (Matt. 15:21-28).

A man's begging Jesus to heal his lunatic son, whom Jesus' disciples were unable to cure (Matt. 17:14-16).

The mother of James and John requested of Jesus that, in His kingdom, one of her sons might sit on Jesus' left and the other on Jesus' right (Matt. 20:20-21).

Jesus' three-fold request of His Father that He might be spared the agony of drinking from "this cup." His submission to the Father's will (Matt. 26:39-44).

Jesus' cry to God on the cross asking why He had forsaken Him (Matt. 27:46).

Prayers Recorded in the Gospel of Mark

A man with an unclean spirit challenged Jesus'  presence among them, stating that they had no business with Jesus, asking if He had come to destroy them, and identifying Him as the Holy One of God (Mark 1:23-24).

Jesus' brief prayer that the ears of a deaf man might be opened, and by implication, that his speech impediment might be removed (Mark 7:32-35).

Prayers Recorded in the Gospel of Luke

Mary's Praise of God, Her Savior, for Exalting Her, His Humble Female Slave, and for Rendering Help to Israel, His Servant. (Luke 1:46-55)

Zacharias' Blessing of the God of Israel for Accomplishing Redemption and Salvation for His People, Israel, and for Providing, in His Own Son John, a Prophet of the Most High Who Would Go before the Lord to Prepare His Ways. (Luke 1:67-79).

Simeon's Prayer While Holding the Child Jesus, Thanking God for His Salvation for All Peoples, both Gentile and Jewish. (Luke 2:28-32)

The request of a royal official that Jesus might come to Capernaum before his child died (John 4:46-50).

The request of the crowd for Jesus to give them the bread out of heaven that gives life to the world (John 6:32-35).

Jesus' prayer to the Father prior to His raising of Lazarus (John 11:41-43).

Jesus' prayer to the Father to glorify His name. (John 12:28)

Jesus' "High Priestly" prayer. (John 17:1-26)


That the Father Would Glorify the Son with the Glory He Had Previously. (John 17:1-5)

For the safe-keeping and sanctification of the men the Father had given Him out of the world. (John 17:6-19)

For the unity of those who would believe in Jesus on account of the word of His present disciples. (John 17:20-21)

For the unity and mutual love of all those the Father has given Him; and that they may be with Him so they might see the glory the Father has given Him. (John 17:22-26)

Prayers Recorded in the Book of Acts

The prayer of the gathered brothers that the Lord would direct as to which of the two men they had chosen was Jesus' choice to replace Judas as an apostle (Acts 1:24-26).

The prayer of the apostles along with a portion of the church to God asking Him to grant them boldness to speak His word and that  He might heal and that signs and wonders might take place through the name of His holy servant, Jesus (Acts 4:23-31).

Stephen's plea to the Lord Jesus to receive his spirit and not to lay the sin of murder against his murderers (Acts 7:59-60).

Saul's query as to the identity of the voice asking him why he was persecuting Him (Acts 9:4-5).
