Critiquing books from a conservative viewpoint.

"The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which soon must take place; and He sent and communicated it by His angel to His bond-servant John, who testified to the Word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw." Revelation 1:1-2

The Revelation of Jesus Christ
by John F. Walvoord

Copyright 1966 by Moody Bible Institute of Chicago

Moody Paperback Edition, 1989

Note: This edition is out of print. Page numbers to which I refer in WordExplain match this 1989 paperback edition.

This book has been republished (and edited) under The John Walvoord Prophecy Commentaries.

John Walvoord, now deceased, was formerly the President of Dallas Theological Seminary. When I attended Dallas Seminary from 1969-1974, he lectured on prophecy as well as serving as President. He authored many books, and did so from a conservative, dispensational point of view.

His treatment of Revelation is from a futurist point of view. It is not as detailed as some more recent commentaries. Much of what is written in this book is also to be found in Dallas Seminary's The Bible Knowledge Commentary series in its treatment of the Book of Revelation. Walvoord and Roy B. Zuck were the general editors of this two-volume set. Neither of them were tainted with Progressive Dispensationalism.
