Eschatology The Study of Last Things by James T. Bartsch Learning about the Future to Live Better Today |
"It
was also given to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them,
and authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation was
given to him. All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone
whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the
book of life of the lamb who has been slain." (Revelation
13:7-8)

In
this
series of articles we have been examining, from a Biblical perspective,
those
events that serve as signs
of the coming end of
the age.
In Part
1
we discussed the reemergence of the State of
Israel. In Part
2
we examined the unification
of Europe. In Part
3
we examined the emergence of
Eurabia. In Part
4 we
examined the move toward a Global Economy. Now in Part 5 we examine the
move
toward a Global Government. Man
has
long exhibited an inclination to band together and centralize control.
After
the catastrophic, world-wide Flood, God commanded Noah and his sons,
“Be
fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth” (Gen.
9:1). People moved eastward into Shinar (Mesopotamia, in
modern Iraq). All
people spoke the same language, and they defied God, saying, “Come, let
us
build for ourselves a city, and a tower whose top will
reach into
heaven, and let us make for ourselves a name, otherwise we will be
scattered
abroad over the face of the whole earth” (Gen.
11:1-4). This was the first General Assembly of the United
Nations. Singularly
unimpressed, “the LORD came down to see the city and the tower which
the sons
of men had built.” He said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all
have the
same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which
they
purpose to do will be impossible for them” (Gen.
11:5-6). God saw unimaginable evil emanating from this
cooperative
endeavor. What was His solution? It was to confound their uni-language
so they could
not cooperate. Thus, He forced them to spread out over the earth in
linguistic
groupings. This city became known as Babylon (Gen.
11:7-9). Down
through the centuries, men have sought to govern the world –
Nebuchadnezzar the
Babylonian, Alexander the Great, Napoleon Bonaparte, Adolf Hitler. The
League
of Nations, founded in 1919 through the efforts of Progressive Woodrow
Wilson,
merged into the United Nations. This merger was achieved following the
landmark
global agreement by Progressive Franklin Roosevelt, Communist Joseph
Stalin,
and Conservative/Labor Winston Churchill at Yalta in 1945. The
United Nations’ tentacles grope ever farther. There is the World Bank,
the
International Monetary Fund, the World Trade Organization, and the
World Court.
Justice David Souter of the United States Supreme Court has argued
decisions
based on international law. In February of 2008 then Senator Barack
Obama
sponsored the “Global
Poverty Act,” which, if enacted, could have resulted in a
global tax on the
United States. The
lurking shadow of a world government looms ever closer and larger. This
centralized
government will gain control “over every tribe and tongue and people
and
nation. Most people on earth will worship the leader of this global
regime. It
will be Anti-God and Anti-Christ. This government will tightly monitor
and control
the purchasing ability of all earth’s citizens based on their
allegiance to the
government. It will wage war against all followers of Jesus Christ
(Rev.
13:7-18). Only
Jesus Christ can free you from the damning tentacles of this coming
World
Government. You will be forced to worship Jesus or the coming Global
Guru. Whom
will you choose? Your eternity hangs in the balance. Prepared
